Top 9!

Ok! Last years top 9 featured songs from Dolly Parton and the boys killed it! Cook, Archuletta, Michael Johns, and J-Cas were amazing this time last year! So lets just see how our four top boys this week would handle an Anything goes week (They said Top I-tunes downloads... but it more was like, grab any song you like and see if the producers ok it...) Anyway, I had 2 favorites this week, but I couldn't pick one, so here you go....
(Kris Allen - Ain't No Sunshine)

And

(Danny Gokey - What Hurts The Most)

Great -
Adam Lambert "Play that Funky Music" - Adam is a star, and he knows it. He owns that stage. Last week he killed us with his sweet falsetto, this week he was back to his screaming ways. He switched up a famous famous song "Play That Funky Music" and Rocked it out, I didn't think he would, but man this kid is hitting his stride at a great point, I hope he can continue it.

Kris Allen "Ain't No Sunshine" - I Am listening to this song as I am writing this, and I am still blown away. I will stay, in all honesty Kris Allen is NOT the best singer in the competition. HOWEVER, this competition is not JUST about that, Kris allen is creative, he mixes the songs up, he makes everything his own. He also plays Piano this week, and it was fantastic, he had a couple Chello's and upright Bass's with him, fantastic job Kris, making the song his own, and working it out! He is getting stronger every week.

Danny Gokey "What Hurts the Most" - After last weeks Good performance, he dropped out of the favor of the judges. I don't think he has as much range with his voice as the other contestants, he is kinda like a poor mans David Cook. HOWEVER when he is showing emotion in his song he is one of the best I have seen! This week, you could tell he had his wife on his mind and this song was intimate, full of emotion, it wasn't a singer just singing some song, he was singing his heart out for us all to see and it was a joy, great job. So with three of our boys out of our top 4 contestants (And it doesn't even seem close at this point in the compeition, these 4 are head and shoulders better then the rest) Just like last seasons boys.. but one faltered a little bit.

Good -
Matt Giraud "You Found Me" - I love Matt, he had a hard week, last week he was in the bottom two, the west coast didn't get to hear his performance last week because the sound didn't work at the begining of the show. He was stuck with the worst spot possible in the number one spot last week, and this week the judges were hard on him. WAY too hard In my opinion. They want him always to do the bluesy/R&B and i do love that, but he got some rock in him too! I love the raspyness to his voice and at the end when he Falsetto'd and went into his riffing it was great. I was afraid he wouldn't change this song up, but he did it great. Judges need to check themselves on this critique.

So-So -
Megan Joy "Turn Your Lights Down Low"- This is my girl, i voted a couple times for her last night, Vote for the worst will vote for her. Not her best performance, better then last week, i do think when she goes slower she does a bit better cause her unique voice shines through. Bad song choice, I love you Megan.

Allison "Don't Speak" - At a point in the song she was screaming the song, her outfit was terrible, and her hair was awful. The begining part of the song however qas quite good! I think she shoulda losed the guitar, if you aren't going to use it... don't bring it out girlie!

Scott 'Just the Way You Are" - I don't like Scott's voice, it kinda gets on my nerves, I'm done with the sob story. His hair looked awful. With that said, his best performance to date... easily. It was just him and the piano... still not good though.

Little Round - "Surrender" - Three bad weeks in a row... she has to be out of the judges favor by now.. they still praise her great vocals, but at some point they are going to have to be real with her and tell her she is having a terrible competition, she hasn't played to her strengths in weeks, and that will get you eliminated quick, the guy judges and ryan said on lettermen she was in the top three. She might be top 5. But is on the outside looking in on our 4 boys at the top.

Bad -
Anoop Desai "Caught Up" - He wants to be an R&B singing, therefore he sings Usher. Bad bad bad choice. Didn't show anything vocaly, kinda like when he did his Michael Jackson song, he hid behind the safe chords. Was in the first spot this week (always disaster) And isn't that strong, sorry Anoop. Sing My perogative tommarrow night for your last song, no matter what music they are playing in the background, they will save you.

Bottom Three-
Anoop, Lil Rounds, Megan (I hope Scotts here)

Home Sweet Home -
Anoop Desai. Sorry buddy.

Runner Up -
(These spots have been changing all season, None of our boys have been consistent, I think i have changed these spots every week, but here we go, lets see if these guys can stick it out for more then one week)
Kris Allen

Your Next American Idol -
Adam Lambert.

We'll see, on a show that needs consistency, this top 9 is not nearly as good as last years top 9. The Davids, Syesha, J-Cas, Brooke, Michael Johns, Carly, and Ramielle were doing great... I dunno Idol, step it up.

Enjoy,
Arod
